Nurse Aide Training Program

CNA Course

Triumphant Medical Institute LLC offers a State Approved Nurse Aide Training Program. The course has a minimal of 85 hours which includes classroom, laboratory, and clinical experience in a nursing home. Triumphant Medical Institute LLC, offers weekday and evening classes for your convenience. The nurse aide training program focuses on communication and interpersonal skills (to include stress management), Infection control, Safety/emergency/FBAO/Body Mechanics, Promoting residents’ independence, Respecting residents’ rights, Legal/ethical behavior, and scope of practice. The course also focuses on:

Basic nursing skills including but not limited to:
  • Taking/recording vital signs and vital sign parameters
  • Measuring and recording height and weight
  • Caring for the residents’ environment
  • Recognizing abnormal changes in body function and the importance of reporting such changes to a supervisor. Some examples of abnormal changes are:
  • Shortness of breath
  • Rapid respiration
  • Fever
  • Coughs
  • Chills
  • Pains in chest
  • Blue color to lips
  • Pain in abdomen
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Drowsiness
  • Excessive thirst
  • Sweating
  • Pus
  • Blood or sediment in urine
  • Difficulty urinating
  • Frequent urination in small amounts
  • Pain or burning on urination
  • Urine has dark color or strong odor
  • Behavioral change
  • Talks or communicates less
  • Physical appearance/mental health changes
  • Participated less in activities or refused to attend
  • Eating less

  • Appears tired, weak, confused or drowsy
  • Change in skin color or condition
  • Requires more assistance with dressing, toileting, transfers
  • Recognizing and reporting paint to supervisor and
  • Caring for a resident when death is imminent and postmortem care
Personal Care Skills, including but not limited to, the following:
  • Bathing (to include observation for pressure ulcers)
  • Grooming, including mouth care
  • Dressing
  • Toileting
  • Assisting with eating and hydration
  • Proper feeding techniques
  • Skincare including observation for pressure ulcers and skin tears
  • Transfers, positioning and turning (to include observation for pressure ulcers
Mental Health and Social Service Needs as follows:
  • Modifying aide’s behavior in response to resident’s behavior including depression
  • Awareness of development tasks associated with the aging process
  • How to respond to resident behavior including depression
  • Allowing residents to make personal choices, providing and reinforcing other behavior consistent with the resident’s dignity
  • Utilizing resident’s family as a source of emotional support
  • Emotional and mental health needs of the residents
  • Spiritual and cultural needs of the residents
Care of Cognitively Impaired Residents as follows:
  • Techniques for addressing the unique needs and behaviors of individuals with dementia (Alzheimer’s and others)
  • Communicating with cognitively impaired residents
  • Understanding the behavior of cognitively impaired residents
  • Appropriate responses to the behavior of cognitively impaired residents
  • Methods of reducing the effects of cognitive impairments
  • Spiritual and cultural health
Basic Restorative Services – The nurse aide should be able to demonstrate skills which incorporate principles of restorative nursing, including but not limited to:
  • Training the resident in self-care according to the resident’s abilities
  • Ambulation with/without a gait belt
  • The use of assistive devices in transferring, ambulation, eating and dressing
  • Maintenance of range of motion
  • Proper turning and positioning in bed and chair
  • Bowel and bladder training
  • Care and use of prosthetic/orthotic devices and eyeglasses
Residents Rights – The nurse aide should be able to demonstrate behavior which maintains residents’ right, including but not limited to:
  • Providing privacy and maintenance of confidentiality
  • Promoting the residents’ right to make personal choices to accommodate their needs
  • Giving assistance in resolving grievances and disputes (to include the role of the ombudsman)
  • Maintenance of range of motion
  • Providing needed assistance in getting to and participating in resident and family groups and other activities
  • Maintaining care and security of resident’s personal possessions
  • Providing care which maintains the resident free from abuse, mistreatment and neglect and reporting any instances of such treatment to appropriate facility staff

Medication Aide Course

The Medication Aide Program is a state-approved training program, which is generally offered in a state-approved assisted living community.  This course is designed to prepare candidates with an active GA CNA certification which is in good standing and is listed on the state registry to advance in this course.

This course provides in-service on:

  • New classes of drugs and new drugs
  • Reviewing medication errors and how to prevent them
  • Methods of administering drugs
  • Safety and administration of drugs
Documentation:

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be eligible to take the State Computerized Examination proctored by our State-Approved RN Instructors. After successful completion of the state exam and payment for licensure, the student’s name will be placed on the medication aide registry as a Certified Medication Aide.

Basic Life Support (BLS)

The Medication Aide Program is a state-approved training program, which is generally offered in a state-approved assisted living community.  This course is designed to prepare candidates with an active GA CNA certification which is in good standing and is listed on the state registry to advance in this course.
What does this course teach?
  • High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
  • The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
  • Important early use of an AED
  • Effective ventilations using a barrier device.
  • Importance of teams in multi-rescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multi-rescuer CPR
  • Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants
Ready to take a Basic Life Support (BLS) class?
Triumphant Medical Institute LLC offers options for how you can purchase BLS. You can take a full classroom course or the blended learning course.  The full classroom course is an in-person course with an AHA instructor. The class can last up to 4 hours.  After successfully completing the course, a BLS Provider Course Completion Card will be given, and it is valid for two years.   HeartCode blended learning delivers quality resuscitation education regardless of where providers are located and gives them more control to complete the course at their own pace. Providers will first complete the online portion of HeartCode BLS, obtain a certification of completion and then complete a hands-on skills session with an AHA BLS Instructor.   The online portion of HeartCode BLS can be completed in approximately 1 to 2 hours.  The skills portion can be completed in 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the experience of the student.  After successfully completing the course a BLS Provider Course Completion Card will be given, and it is valid for two years.

Heartsaver® First Aid /CPR /AED

Heartsaver® First Aid, CPR, AED trains anyone with little or no medical training to provide first aid, CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely, and effective manner.

Triumphant Medical Institute, LLC offers options for how you can purchase Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED.
